Bembridge Windmill is a Grade 1 listed building and one of the island's most iconic images. Built around 1700, it last operated in 1913 but still has most of its original machinery intact.

Climb to the top of the mill then find out how it once worked as you descend its four floors.

Treat yourself with ice-creams or drinks from the kiosk,

Guided tours are now available of nearby Bembridge Fort (situated on Culver Down). Tours last approximately 1 1/2 hours and cost £3 per adult (including National Trust members).

Tours are on the 1st & 3rd Tuesdays of the month until the end of October (volunteers lead them). Places must be booked in advance by calling 01983 741020 or by emailing isleofwight@nationaltrust.org.uk
